Dark Lord Chicco Smith
Chicco Smith describes himself simply as “a small-town dude from Pittsville” who happened to see Alain Bloch and Jimmy Sourile fight—and decided he wanted in.
That moment started a journey that quickly became much more serious. Chicco spent his first six months largely training and researching on his own, drawing inspiration from Kendo, rapier, and longsword techniques. With only those months of preparation behind him, he entered Saberstrong and shocked the field by finishing 8th.
Then he found Saber Light Knights.
Training alongside SLK pushed Chicco to expand his martial arts education beyond saber combat. He began incorporating Kali, kickboxing, and jujutsu into his fighting, developing the adaptable, aggressive, and technically diverse style that has become his trademark.
These days, according to Chicco, he's going through something of a Johnny Lawrence Cobra Kai arc—although hopefully with fewer destroyed cars and questionable life decisions.
In competition, Chicco has established himself as one of Saber Light Knights' most accomplished fighters. He is the two-time reigning Praxeum War Champion, capturing the title in both 2024 and 2025. Within The Saber Legion, he is currently ranked among the Top 10 in Mixed Weapons and Top 15 in Standard competition.
Chicco is also the current Dark Lord of Saber Light Knights, one of the academy's most demanding titles to earn. The title cannot simply be awarded—it must be won. To claim it, a challenger must prove themselves in single combat against the academy's top students and teachers. Chicco fought his way through those trials and earned the right to carry the title.
But Chicco's value to Saber Light Knights extends well beyond tournament victories, rankings, and titles.
Known throughout the saber community for his honor, friendliness, sportsmanship, and fierce competitive streak, Chicco brings the same intensity to developing other fighters that he brings into the ring. He works closely with SLK students, challenging them to sharpen their technique, strengthen their weaknesses, and push themselves toward the peak of their abilities.
Friendly outside the ring and relentless once the match begins, Chicco represents some of the core ideals of Saber Light Knights:
